Pain in Cancer is caused by a variety of reasons, including the disease itself, causing compression, inflammation or infiltration of local nerves.
It can also be caused secondary to treatment of Cancer, for example surgery, chemotherapy or radiotherapy.
Certain conditions are associated with specific Cancer Pain Syndromes.
Depending on the type and location of the pain, a number of different techniques maybe employed for treatment.
The mainstay of treatment is medication. Other techniques include temporary and permanent nerve blocks and Implantable Intrathecal Pumps.
